I had my second crochet lesson last week after successfully completing my homework (yes, honestly, Yvonne sent me away to practise before we could move on to another flower with new stitches!) So, having produced many "lazy daisies" it was apparent that practise makes perfect, and we moved on to "meconopsis". I have spent the past week making these, so am looking forward to my lesson on Wednesday and learning another flower.
So, having an ever growing pile of crocheted flowers I decided it was about time that I tried one out on a card, albeit a rather quick card:
What do you think? Hopefully as I get better at crochet I might be able to use smaller hooks and therefore make smaller more delicate flowers ... but in the meantime I'm happy with how these are coming along.
A couple of weeks ago (Mother's Day weekend), my Mum came down to stay with us and whilst visiting a garden centre we came across a Cat Mint plant. Mum assured me that Morris would go mad for it as all of her cats always had. He was less than impressed :( Not one to waste money, I planted it anyway and he has ignored it ever since .. until today
today he loved it! He rolled in it and laid on it for ages - money well spent and Mums do know best!!!

New Nestabilities
I finally got around to treating myself to some Nestabilities (even though I haven't actually paid yet Mrs B!) and haven't had nearly enough time to have a play with them yet :( I find my mojo deserts me when the kids are around for some reason (!) - I craft much better when it's just me here in the peace and quiet.
So, my first play with my nesties produced this card:
followed by this one:
Not bad, but I need to keep practising!
Also made another pair of cards using my kit:
this one was almost exactly as it should be, using everything from the kit except I switched the birdie because he was bigger, and then this one made up from my stash (including another small pack of Vintage Blue)
Still hoping to get into my Crafty Corner sometime soon, but as it's the Easter holidays, who knows?!

Happy Birthday Sue
Just realised that I haven't yet popped the birthday card that I made for Sue Bubbles on my blog, so here it is:
hope it arrived safely and that she liked it ...
Not sure that this one made it to my blog either:
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Something New ...
Just a quick post to show you what I have been learning today ...
They are by no means perfect, but for a first two attempts, I am quite pleased with myself! The lilac one is my first one, and is better than the pink/cream one but then I made that whilst sat with my friend Yvonne and copying exactly what she was doing. The other, slightly wonky one I did all on my own this evening, but the middle is all wrong ... think I'll have to go back for another lesson!!!
Maybe one day I will be able to produce neat and tidy little flowers that I can use on my scrapbooking and cards - that's the aim!

Mother's Day 2011
I was a little later than I would have liked in making my Mother's Day cards this year, but the one for my MIL was posted in plenty of time and arrived sometime before the big day, and my Mum was here with me for the weekend so that was OK too.
You will be pleased to know that I have broken into a brand new pack of papers!!! The time seemed right, and I tried to keep the cards similar while being different ...
My Mum's card:
and my Mother in Law's card (she is very particular that it isn't Mother's Day but Mothering Sunday, and on this day you just can't argue with her!):
Both cards are made using "Hampstead" papers and embellishments, and both feature birds! I didn't have the right size card blanks, so made my own, but my cream card was a little thin, so I also decorated the inside of the cards, mainly to strengthen up the card but I think it really added a little special touch ...
I had a lovely Mother's Day too. I received some lovely gifts and cards, and although Alex was working all day, I got to spend some time with my Mum. We visited a garden centre and came home and planted the new plants, and my lovely hubby cooked the roast dinner all on his own!
