Happy Anniversary

It was our lovely friends Louise and Ian's wedding anniversary last week, and I created this card for the occasion:

Yep, a typical Carole card ... contains loads of bits and bobs that I love, namely kraft card, tickets, birds, book paper and twine.  Sigh.

My New Toy

I happened to mention to my Mum that I was on the look out for a portable typewriter as she works as a volunteer in a charity shop and is also partial to the odd boot sale or two.  So, imagine my delight when she phoned me to tell me that she had indeed found me a small old typewriter for £3!!!  Yes, £3.  The only slight problem was that the ribbon had completely dried up and being so old, it wasn't clear whether we would be able to buy a replacement.  I am really pleased to have found a ribbon on ebay, and although the spools were larger, the actual ribbon was the same width and so my OH was able to wind the new ribbon onto the old spools - the ribbon cost more than the typewriter though (at £2.75 + 75p postage!).

I'm hoping to use this lovely little machine for scrapbook journalling, sentiments on cards and other such things that I haven't even thought of yet!  It is funny typing on an old fashioned keyboard after the ease of a modern laptop ... takes me back to my typewriting lessons at school!

The first little craft project that I have used my typewriter for is this:

quick little place cards that I knocked up yesterday for our dinner party - the men had stars with plain steel brads but the photo was too blurry to show :(

New Baby

I've just realised that I am still keeping you in suspense about my friend's baby that was nearly two weeks late.  Well I have good news and bad news.  The good, and such lovely news, is that Maxwell was born and both Mum and baby are doing well (I've only had a very brief look so far but am hoping to get a cuddle soon!)  The bad news is that in my rush to deliver the card, I completely forgot to take a photo of it D'oh!  However, as I had made a pink version too, I can show you that and just add that I cut out the baby's name and stuck it on the bottom, kind of curved like the "welcome".

This card will be finished off when my cousin Jemma has her baby girl in October, and I also need to make another baby boy card for my other cousin Viki who is expecting a boy.

Father's Day

Apologies for my lack of blogging this past week, but I have had my Mum staying with me and we were busy busy busy!  However, I did manage to get my Father's Day cards made before Mum arrived (both the same, one for my step dad and one for my FIL):

I also did a small amount of crafting over this past weekend, two tags for gifts:

I again used the vintage comic/black/kraft combination for the tag for my FIL's gift and a small scrap of Basic Grey and other scraps for my MIL's tag.

According to their weight chart, our kittens are gaining weight although to us they don't really seem much bigger (especially Pickle who is still tiny).  However, they have been back to the vet for the first round of injections and have an appointment for the second lot, and the vet seems pleased with their progress.  In fact it was very much a family day out as we took all four pets for their boosters/injections at the same time in order to achieve a 20% discount which, as those of you with pets will know, is not to be sniffed at!  The kittens are also getting a lot braver around the dogs and are coming downstairs on their own accord, so all is going well!

Hayden

So the last post was a layout of my eldest, this post is a layout of my youngest - well, you've got to treat them equally haven't you?!  For this one I have used a combination of Basic Grey Boxer papers and brads and some Papermania Kraft cardstock.  It's quite busy with the patterned paper and Hayden's top, but I think it works OK.  Grandpa took this photo one day when they were babysitting and he is sitting on my sister's lap.  It's funny to think that although he is still only 14, he is now well over 6' tall and with size 12 feet ... but he'll always be my baby!

Thanks for looking and I hope you like my page!

Looby Loo

It's good having a few projects in hand to blog when you haven't had much of a chance to craft, isn't it?!

Here is another of the layouts that I did a couple of weeks ago (only one left to blog after this).  This is my most favourite photo of Alex ever taken (to date at least!)  She was about two and a half and it was taken at our Mother and Toddler group in November 1996.  I love everything about it!  I adore the little minnie mouse sailor outfit she is wearing (it had a little navy knitted pleated skirt), and I especially love Alex's little curls and those big brown eyes - she was so cute!!!

I've used some more of my beloved Basic Grey papers but kept the embellishments simple so that the photo shines (for me it does anyway, but I might have already mentioned that!)

p.s.  Still no news about my friend's baby!!!  Bet she is really fed up now being this late.

Male Birthday Card

What a beautiful day weather wise it's been today!  I spent the morning at work and then a few hours this afternoon in my Crafty Corner just because it was the first opportunity that had presented itself for well over a week.

Here is a card that I made for my good friend Roger (you'd never have guessed that though, right?!)

I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do, and it all came together really well, which is unusual to say the least.  I loved using my kraft card blanks and a piece of my lovely brown parcel paper (sigh!).

Today I made two new baby cards because my friend is due any day now, in fact she is late, but she doesn't know if it is a boy or a girl, so I made a pink one and a blue one.  I have two pregnant cousins at the moment, one expecting a boy and one expecting a girl, so the spare card will not go to waste, and I will have to make another in the appropriate colour!  I have left space on the cards to add the baby's name so will blog that when the baby has been born!  Anyone care to make a guess as to the sex ... ?!
